Brittany Kuehnert — who, along with husband Andrew, his brother Nathan, and his wife Sarah operate the family dairy — brings a unique perspective to this management team. Probably most notable has been her non-farm upbringing. Her understanding of how family businesses operated took on a whole new meaning when she found herself dating, then marrying, a farmer.

Brittany’s parents co-owned a construction firm on the outskirts of Chicago, where she grew up. After meeting Andrew while attending Purdue University, she found herself enthralled with what it meant to not only be a family business, but a farming operation. “It’s so apparent that we tend to take how our food is produced for granted, and being part of something like this farm was not only eye-opening at first, but now something I feel truly responsible for sharing the message about,” she explains.

She has used her education degree and 10 years of teaching background to help deliver that message with school tours and the busy Kuehnert Dairy Fall Festival. The newest challenge for the farm since early 2024 has been the Kuehnert Milk House, where Brittany uses her previous retail experience and business acumen to provide oversight to the store, its Udder Upp Cafe, and the educational parts about how the milk goes from udder to milkshake.

Brittany and Andrew will celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary this year and are parents to Kennedy, 9, and Carson, 4, both of whom she is excited to have the opportunity to grow up on this heritage farm. “Being able to be part of something with so much history, meaning, and importance is priceless; they are a part of something so much bigger.”
